Scientists still can't see
the evolutionary advantage
in bipedalism
wish they still had
grasping feet
are on the verge of admitting
it really was God.
Nature's mistakes
don't flourish.

Amusing Rachel, yes, "on the verge of admitting it really was God", a sweet logic here indeed! And thank you for all your wonderful poems here.
ReplyDeleteMmmm. "Natures mistakes don't flourish" is spoken with such a pure, defiant voice.
ReplyDeleteLove it. (oh, and if my name shows up as a bunch of weird numbers, this is Julie Jordan Scott).
I like the title -- a word new to me. I had to look it up. Interesting words make interesting poems.

thanks, everybody
ReplyDeleteyeah there was a show about this hominid on discovery the other night. i love it when they talk about bipedalism and just show a gag reel of people falling down. have to admit it seems like an odd design. if we hadn't been holding big sticks most of the time we'd make awfully easy prey...
which is where the Aquatic Ape Hypothesis comes in... http://aquaticape.org
actually that website sucks: try wikipedia instead.
